Founded in 1983, we started our footsteps in logistics industry with the name Modern Century Sea Freight Limited (former known as Modern Century Forwarding Limited). In 1995, we expanded our service with another brand name, Modern Century Air Freight Limited, which specialized in handling air cargo. Thereafter, in light of continuous blooming market in China, we expanded our market share and set up Modern Century (Shanghai) Logistics Ltd. (formerly known as Shenzhen Modern Century Logistics Limited) which specialized in handling all sorts of cargo in China. Up to present, we are proud to run our branch offices at Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen and Shenzhen; and head office in Hong Kong.
At the moment, the only major shareholder of the group is Mr Y M Chan. After graduating in 1983 with a degree of biology in the University of Hong Kong, Mr Chan was all set for a career in teaching profession. However, after working as a teacher in a local secondary school for a few months, a job opportunity arose in the Hong Kong Representative office of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation. This job opened his door into shipping industry which was booming in the 1980s.
Thereafter, Mr Y M Chan worked at a number of shipping lines including Nedlloyd Lines, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and the freight forwarding arm of OOCL. He became one of the major partners in Modern Century in 1990. During the 27 years of service in the group as Director, he was all the way leading the commercial departments no matter it was in sea freight, air freight or China trade. With the recent retirement of other partners, Mr Y M Chan has acquired all the shares from the old partners and is now the sole major shareholder of the group. Mr Y M Chan carries a very optimistic view about the future of the group and is willing to invest time, money and manpower to facilitate the continuous growth of the business.

Modern Century is a Hong Kong based logistics service provider with own fleet of trucks and dedicated warehouse facilities. Our service in import, export and transshipment cover LCL consolidation, FCL, projects shipments, books shipments, reefer cargo no matter they are by sea, by air or on road. Our own office network in Mainland China covers major ports in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Ningbo and Xiamen to meet the customers’ needs and requirements. As a leading international freight forwarding company, networking with powerful oversea partner agents in most countries in other part of the world is unavoidably a pre-requisite. We proved ourselves successful in this aspect by being active members in different international freight forwarding networks and trade associations including : IATA, HK General Chamber of Commerce, World Cargo Alliance (WCA), GCP member of JC Trans, CIFA, Food Directories. We are confident that by having such exposure, we would continuingly expand our worldwide agency network as well as customer base.
